Andaz
Resort

This November, Andaz will unveil a new wave of renovations designed to enhance the resort’s playful spirit while deepening its sense of community.  Shaped by the essence of Guanacaste, the transformation emphasizes social connection, multi-generational travel, and a renewed energy in every corner.

A New Beauty Bar

At Onda Spa and Wellness, there is a new Beauty Bar that brings a stylish social twist to self-care. Offering manicures, pedicures, and hair services, the space can also be privatized for groups, complete with a curated selection of bubbles and bites to enjoy during the experience. It’s all part of a refreshed wellness program adding layers of fun and connection to traditional spa rituals.

Spotlight: The Dojo

The Dojo is a space where strength meets stillness. Guests can explore martial arts, tropical forest meditation, Thai massage, and now Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ)—a discipline rooted in resilience, respect, and flow. Designed as both energetic and restorative, the Dojo reflects the Andaz ethos of blending wellness and culture, offering guests an inspiring place to move, recover, and connect.

Meet Gaio: The Soul of Italian Dining

Perhaps the most anticipated transformation is Gaio, formerly Rio Bhongo, into a trattoria-style restaurant that brings Italian soul food to Papagayo with a cheeky, modern flair. Led by Chef Sergio Montoya, Gaio is designed for family-style dining, laughter, and music. Signature dishes such as lamb bolognese and spaghetti & meatballs “a la Nonna” are designed to be shared, while a custom-built pizza oven with seating for eight turns dinner into a live, interactive culinary experience. A soundtrack of funky Italian tunes and disco beats sets the mood, adding just the right touch of mischief and fun to the table.

Chao Pescao: Dinner and live music

Already a guest favorite, Chao Pescao is evolving into Papagayo’s hottest live music spot. A new stage at the back of the restaurant will host Latin and Caribbean bands, creating a vibrant atmosphere with the possibility of dancing under the stars.

Rooms & Suites: More Space, More Soul

To round out the renovations, the resort’s 152 rooms and suites are receiving thoughtful updates that make them feel even more inviting. Light-filled terraces open the interiors to the outdoors, while organic materials and earthy tones reflect the natural beauty of Papagayo. Living spaces have been enhanced with new furnishings, while suites are now designed with multi-generational families in mind, complete with sofa beds, expanded dining tables, and a warmer, more grounded aesthetic.
