Located in the new Vision Gallery, Art x PPGY is a limited series of pop-up events that support the Costa Rican art community by allowing local creatives to connect with residents and guests of Peninsula Papagayo. In turn, residents and guests will experience the rich art and culture of Costa Rica that was once confined to San Jose.

As Peninsula Papagayo’s resident creative and Head of Design, Lumar Cuccioletta has forged ahead working on all things related to visual content, communication, experiences, and events. She is proud to be a part of the team, envisioning PPGY, and while passionate about nature, her first love is art.

Lumar’s immersion and love of the arts were instilled by her mother, an artist. From a young age, the mother-daughter duo visited museums, galleries, and performances in her hometown of Buenos Aires, a city that boasts a vibrant and avant-garde art scene. She later attended the prestigious Universidad Nacional de Artes, also in Buenos Aires, where she studied Fine Art, and the Universidad de Buenos Aires, where she studied Graphic Design. During this time, she embraced the dynamic and creative environment at her fingertips with long afternoons spent at the city’s world-class museums, like the MALBA, and the underground art scene in the San Telmo neighborhood.

Known for her passion and relentless work ethic, Lumar jumped at the chance to develop and curate art programming on Peninsula Papagayo. She got right to work and conceptualized what she calls Art x PPGY.

“Beyond bringing to light local artists, the series will present authentic and meaningful installations that celebrate our community’s core values,” says Cuccioletta. “We will integrate art with nature, sustainability, and community and create inspirational and informative exhibitions that speak to the Peninsula Papagayo lifestyle.”

Each of the month-long exhibitions kicks off with a vernissage. On February 23, “In Our Nature” will feature a still-life installation displaying the treasures from Las Huertas Home Gardens and the millenary traditions of Guaitil pottery. On March 23, “Into the Deep Blue” brings a community of ocean lover’s together with a photography exhibition and locally crafted surfboards.

What’s next for Art x PPGY? The sky is the limit when it comes to Lumar’s creativity. “I hope to continue developing art fairs, shows, galleries, festivals, exhibitions, and eventually, engaging the children in the community through Creciendo Juntos.” she said. “An art program on PPGY is a long-term initiative that will continue to develop over time and will thrive with the engagement of the community.”
