Creciendo Juntos

Founded by Peninsula Papagayo in 2001, Creciendo Juntos has long been a force for positive change in the surrounding communities, with education as its foundation. Over the years, the initiative has expanded its reach—offering support in moments of crisis, while also investing in long-term programs that empower local families and preserve the region’s unique identity.

Thanks to the generosity of Peninsula Papagayo Members at the end of 2024 and beginning of 2025, more than 300 families affected by severe flooding received urgent assistance. A total of $124,162 was raised, which provided essentials like mattresses and food, and helped revive Las Huertas, a community farming project that had lost over 75% of its crops. Today, families are once again harvesting fresh, sustainable vegetables—marking a full recovery.

In early March, nearly 1,500 students from first to sixth grade received brand-new textbooks in Spanish, math, science, and social studies—materials that will serve them throughout the 2025 school year. Access to quality educational resources remains central to Creciendo Juntos’ mission, reinforcing the belief that education unlocks opportunity and resilience.

Creciendo Juntos also celebrated a major milestone at the start of the year with its annual charity golf tournament, which raised an incredible $131,954.26. A portion of these funds are being invested in the Tech Hub, a space that welcomed 3,185 visitors from 37 different communities in 2024. Offering 30 technology courses, the hub continues to foster innovation and provide access to digital learning for all ages—bridging the digital divide and empowering local talent.

Looking ahead, part of this year’s fundraising will also support the preservation of Guanacaste’s rich cultural heritage. Over the past few decades, the province has experienced rapid transformation, placing many of its traditions at risk. From music and dance to storytelling and folklore, these expressions are central to the identity of the Guanacasteco people.

Across the communities neighboring Peninsula Papagayo, local groups—made up of students, teachers, and passionate residents—are working to keep these traditions alive. Often with limited resources, they rehearse dances, teach marimba, and share oral histories, all in the name of cultural preservation. Creciendo Juntos is proud to support these efforts, helping ensure that the next generation grows up connected to the vibrant legacy of their ancestors.

As it enters its third decade, Creciendo Juntos remains a powerful example of what’s possible when a community comes together—whether in response to a natural disaster, in a classroom, or on a cultural stage. Rooted in education, guided by compassion, and sustained by collective action, the initiative continues to shape a stronger, more connected Guanacaste for all.
