Peninsula Papagayo’s first full-time residents share their thoughts on leaving Switzerland for a new life in Costa Rica.
What does “pura vida” mean to you?
An open, friendly and mindful attitude in paradise.
What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Peninsula Papagayo?
All that we look for in Costa Rica—on a very high level.
Describe the moment when you decided to move to Costa Rica.
We already loved the country and were impressed by the peninsula, and then the opportunity to buy two extraordinary lots presented itself. At that time the US dollar was at an all-time low to the Swiss Franc. Then our dreams began!
What is your favorite time of year here?
1st of January to 31st of December.
What is the most interesting aspect of your home?
We put hundreds of hours into the design process (mainly Patricia as designer), so the house expresses a personal part of us. For us, the pool and garden were key elements, so we decided to set the main structure a little further back from the edge of the slope to create this amazing outdoor living room under the stars. The swimming pool was designed to flow from an under-roof area to an uncovered area, becoming a focal point of the design.
