Peninsula Papagayo is entering an exciting new chapter following Mohari Hospitality’s acquisition of Gencom’s interest in the destination, making Mohari the sole long-term owner of the community.

The transition builds upon a successful decade of partnership between Mohari and Gencom, during which Peninsula Papagayo experienced a remarkable period of investment and transformation. Together, the partners helped strengthen the destination’s position as one of the world’s most distinctive resort and residential communities while remaining committed to responsible development, environmental stewardship, and positive community impact.

Recent milestones include the opening of Nekajui Peninsula Papagayo, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, Papagayo Park, and The Outpost at Palmares Preserve, as well as the introduction of new residential neighborhoods including Andaz Residences, Four Seasons Private Residences Prieta Bay, Bahías, and Enclaves. Significant enhancements have also been made across Four Seasons Resort Peninsula Papagayo and Andaz Peninsula Papagayo Resort.

With ownership now unified under Mohari, Peninsula Papagayo is well positioned to build upon this strong momentum with a clear and consistent long-term vision.

“Peninsula Papagayo has always been defined by an extraordinary sense of possibility,” said Steve Walker, Owner’s Representative for Mohari. “This next chapter gives us the opportunity to look confidently toward the future while remaining true to the qualities that make this community so special. We will continue investing thoughtfully in our experiences, our people, and our natural environment, creating meaningful new opportunities for our members, residents, guests, and the communities of Guanacaste.”

Mohari’s plans include continued investment across Peninsula Papagayo’s hospitality and residential offerings, recreational amenities, guest and resident experiences, community partnerships, and environmental programs. The transition of asset management, development, and on-site leadership responsibilities will take place collaboratively, supporting continuity across the destination.

That long-term commitment extends well beyond Peninsula Papagayo’s boundaries. Through Creciendo Juntos, now celebrating 25 years of service, the destination will continue supporting education, health, and economic opportunity across 19 neighboring communities.

As Peninsula Papagayo looks ahead, its defining principles remain unchanged: preserving the natural beauty of the peninsula, pursuing excellence in every experience, and contributing meaningfully to the region we are privileged to call home. Under Mohari’s sole ownership, those principles will continue to guide an ambitious and optimistic vision for the future.
