Places where history breathes on you

Probably the oldest monument that you can meet during your wanderings in Leipzig is the church of St. Nicholas (Nikolaykirche), built in 1165 in the Romanesque style. Later it was rebuilt in the spirit of late Gothic. It is famous for its impressive interior, classicism paintings and massive organ.

Church of st. Thomas (Thomaskirche) is one of the key buildings in European history. It was here that the public heard the sermon of Martin Luther, a German theologian, preacher and founder of Protestantism, whose life path ended with the reformation of the Church. The 95 theses that Luther presented in this temple in 1519 as part of the so-called Leipzig dispute are reminiscent of a bronze plaque and colored stained glass windows on the south side of the church.

The memorial battle of the peoples of 1813 is marked by an impressive monument of the battle of the peoples (Vlkerschlachtdenkmal). At the top of this frequently visited monument is an observation deck from which you can see the city center.

One of the most beautiful examples of the sophisticated Renaissance style of the late 16th century is Marktplatz with the well-preserved Old Town Hall.

Food for the soul

Leipzig attracts young creative artists from around the world due to its low rental prices. This is one of the reasons why people have many festivals to choose from. Events dedicated to contemporary painting are often held at the spinning mill, music lovers can enjoy a symphony concert in Gewandhaus. And when autumn comes, enthusiastic artists meet a grateful audience on Leipzig jazz days.

Entertainment

Since 1878, the local zoo has been protecting more than 850 species of animals. This is rightfully one of the largest.

There is also a modern BELANTIS amusement park, divided into several thematic areas. It is a short walk from Leipzig. The park is full of attractions and carousels designed to entertain the smallest. Children can also ride on the children's train. Beach of the Gods, in turn, resembles ancient Greece and the Coast of sea pirates.

A popular destination for many tourists, vacationers and athletes is the Lake Neusenland region. There are numerous cycling and hiking trails, outdoor sports will be provided with modern sports equipment, and sunbathing and waves will make the beach more enjoyable.
