Leading the transformation is Nemare, a longtime peninsula favorite and the resort’s signature Latin American steakhouse. The restaurant will emerge with a more immersive identity inspired by Guanacaste’s Sabanero, or cowboy, culture. Named for the Chorotega word for smoke, the redesigned space will combine a rich, atmospheric palette with natural materials that create warmth, depth, and intimacy.

A thoughtful mix of seating, including curved leather banquettes and outdoor communal tables, will accommodate everything from intimate dinners to larger social gatherings. An expanded exterior terrace will further strengthen Nemare’s connection to the surrounding landscape, while an updated culinary offering will build upon the restaurant’s distinctive celebration of fire, flavour and regional tradition.

The resort will also introduce ten new one-bedroom Papagayo Suites, located just steps from its central gathering spaces. Conceived as serene tropical retreats, the suites will feature custom furnishings, sculptural lighting, and a calming palette of sand, papaya, pale blue, and soft green. Natural wood, stone, and plush textiles will create a warm residential atmosphere, while spa-inspired bathrooms will incorporate striated stone, curved soaking tubs, and layouts that welcome natural light and fresh air.

The three-bedroom Miramar Presidential Suite will be fully reimagined as a private indoor-outdoor haven. Custom millwork and tropical detailing will complement expansive terraces, a private pool, and generous outdoor entertaining areas, creating a setting suited to both relaxation and celebration. Guest rooms throughout the resort will also receive lighter updates through new soft furnishings, further enhancing their comfort and residential character.

The transformation will extend to the resort’s meeting and event spaces. The more than 4,000-square-foot ballroom will be refreshed with biophilic elements, sculptural lighting, and natural textures, including wood and stone. A stylized plumeria motif will bring a distinctly Costa Rican character to the space, creating a contemporary and versatile setting for weddings, celebrations, and corporate gatherings.

Together, the enhancements reflect Four Seasons’ continued commitment to experiences that feel personal, intuitive, and deeply rooted in Peninsula Papagayo, welcoming guests back to a newly elevated resort experience when it reopens on October 1.
