What inspired your journey into hospitality, and what keeps you passionate about it today?

I grew up in a family of entrepreneurs—Christmas tree farms, a cemetery, bowling alley, pizza shop, and an ice cream parlor. In our family, there was great work/life balance since work and life was one seamless adventure.  Early on, I knew I wanted to run a business, but within a more structured environment. A brief stint in investment banking confirmed two things: I liked a fast-paced business life constantly on the go, but didn’t want spreadsheets without people. At its core, hospitality is about people. Beautiful design and world-class amenities matter, but they’re brought to life by human connection. Helping teams perform at their best, creating meaningful moments for guests, and solving a thousand tiny puzzles every day—that’s what keeps me engaged.

What’s the most unexpected lesson you’ve learned from working in hotels around the world?

Beneath all the cultural nuance and geographic diversity, people—guests and staff alike—want the same two things: to be respected as human beings, and to be recognized as individuals. It’s deceptively simple, and yet it defines everything we do. Whether in Thailand, Mississippi, or Morocco, I’ve seen how the desire for connection and personalization transcends borders. The languages, customs, and expectations may vary, but the heartbeat of hospitality remains the same. The lesson? Operational excellence must always leave room for emotional intelligence.

What drew you to Peninsula Papagayo—and what was your first impression when you arrived?

I was attracted by the intersection of world-class reputation, natural beauty, and the caliber of leadership—both from ownership and within the Four Seasons team. It’s rare to find all three aligned in one destination. When I arrived, it exceeded every expectation—even as someone who had visited over 15 years ago with my husband. The transformation has been remarkable. The landscape is more vibrant, the experiences more layered, and the service more refined. It’s not just beautiful—it’s become a benchmark for what luxury in nature can feel like when done exceptionally well.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Creating a meaningful life alongside exceptional people—in the more than 30 different places I’ve lived and worked.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received—and do you still follow it?

My father used to say, “All boats rise with the tide.” It stuck with me. It’s a reminder that collaboration—within teams, across departments, even with competitors—leads to stronger outcomes for everyone. I’ve found that when you focus on elevating others, the business rises with it. It’s not just advice I follow; it’s become a quiet philosophy behind how I lead.

What is your favorite way to spend time in nature?

Give me sun, saltwater, and a gentle breeze and I’m happy. Swimming, doing CrossFit outside, or simply being outdoors—there’s something grounding about moving with the rhythm of the water and letting nature set the pace. It’s where I recharge, think clearly, and return with just a little more perspective.

What is your motto?

Leadership is about finding the best in each person with whom I work.  Everyone brings value, not always immediately visible, but waiting to be uncovered.

What are you most excited to bring to the community here—professionally or personally?

I’m excited to work collaboratively with all stakeholders—team members, ownership, local partners—to help elevate the region in a meaningful way. The goal is simple: Build something special which is better than I found it, and that will endure long into the future.
